Mrs. N. W. Muir was before her Marriage Miss Cora May Shadburn of San Francisco, a daughter of and 
old personal friend of Hon. Jasper W. Muir. When but a young girl she visited her father's friend 
and at his home she met her future husband. Mrs. Muir was fifty years of age. She was one of the 
most widely known and popular women of the entire south. She was an enthusiastic member of the 
Daughters of Confederacy, and attended all the State and National meetings of that body. She was 
State President of the Jefferson Davis Monument Association and had but a few weeks previous to her 
death returned from Chattanooga, Tenn., where she attended the National Convention U. D. C. 
She was also County Chairman of the Kentucky Branch National League for Defense. Mrs. Muir was a 
great social favorite, and was one of the most generally beloved women of this city. She was a 
Catholic by birth and education.

The home of Mr. and Mrs. Muir was one of the most beautiful in the state and was one of the show 
places of Bardstown.

Mrs. Muir is survived by her father and three brothers. Also by four half brothers and sisters, 
children of her father’s second wife, who was Miss Florence McKay of this city.
