Mullins.Carl.1967.Pike.OBITFrom: KyArchives [Archives@genrecords.org] To: Ky-Footsteps Subject: Mullins.Carl.1967.Pike.OBIT Carl Mullins February 8, 1967 Pike County KyArchives Obituaries Minutes of the UNION ASSOCIATION OF OLD REGULAR BABTISTS OF JESUS CHRIST, 1967 Carl Mullins I will try with the help of God to write an obituary of our father and husband Carl Mullins. The son of Joe and Mintie Mullins, he was born in Pike County, Ky. on January 22, 1902; deceased this life on February 8, 1967, at his home after a long illness, making his stay on earth 65 years and 17 days. He married Georgia Stacey Mullins on November 7, 1929, and to this union seven children were born-one daughter, Peggy Ratliff of Edison, Ohio, and six sons, Kenneth Ray of Cardington, Ohio, Paul Clinton of Elkhorn City, Ky., Carl Roger of Detroit, Mich., Jimmie Ferrel of Louisville, Ky., Danny Goble of Elkhorn City, Ky. and Ronnie Keith at home. One four month old son preceded him in Death. Also to morn his passing are two brothers, Howard Mullins of Clincho, Va. and Woodrow Mullins of Meadowview, Va., and two sisters, Gertrude Casebolt of Meadowview, Va., and Belle Counts of Baltimore, Md., together with twelve grandchildren and a host of cousins, including one in particular whom he always called “Aunt Elsie,” Elsie Jones of Fords Branch, Ky. He stayed with her so much when he was very young and she was so good to him-bless her heart. He also leaves a host of friends and neighborns to mourn his loss. His children miss him. Home will never be the same without Daddy. His friends and his home church will miss him, but nobody in this world more than I do. I tried to do everything for him that I could. I prayed so hard for the good, dear Master to give me strength to take care of him as long as he needed me, and I believe my prayers were answered. Just a few nights before he died he said his feet and legs were hurting and as I was on my knees bathing his feet he patted me on the shoulder and said-“Georgia, bless your heart. If you don’t get a crown for anything else you’ll surely get one for taking such good care of me.” But no matter how hard I tried to keep him with me, it came time for the good Lord to call him home and take him out of his suffering, heartaches and troubles, and I had to stand back. My only desire is that when this life is over here, I, too, can enter into that beautiful home where Carl is resting. He doesn’t need me for his right hand there-as he said so many times that I was his right hand here. Carl was a retired miner. He professed a hope in Christ and joined the Regular Baptist Church about fifteen years ago and lived a faithful member until his death. He went to church and filled his seat as long as he was able to do so, his membership being with the Cedar Grove Church. He was sick for a long time and bore his illness with patience. He was a humble man. I miss him so much, but I feel that God has called him to a better home. He has come to the end of life’s pathway, lain aside the worries and pain and heartache of this old world, and has entered into eternal rest which God has promised all his children. So, children, Daddy has gone and cannot come back to you, but you can all go to join him some day if you will have faith in God and will forsake your wicked ways and pray for the Lord to have mercy on your poor souls. Then there will be no more farewells and separations. May God bless and take care of you all. Remember our loss is Heaven’s gain.
