(Mullins) Ratliff Smith, age 70 of Sunbury passed away Sunday, February 12, 2006 at her home. She was born on December 26, 1935 in Pikeville, KY to the late Carl and Georgie (Stacy) Mullins. Peggy was a resident of Edison from 1952 to 1985, Mt. Gilead from 1985 until 1991, when she moved to Sunbury. She retired in 1991 from ITT, where she had worked as an assembler and in the stock department. Following retirement she worked at Sunbury Nursing Home. Most proud of her husband and family she was a mother, grandmother, and friend to everyone. Always befriending the less fortunate, she ministered and was a care provider to those in need. A member of True Bible Church, she collected angles, dolls, and bells. Peggy was a fan and supporter of Sunbury Little League Baseball and was always in attendance at her Grandchildren’s activities. Survived by her second husband of 15 years: James R. “J.R.” Smith, whom she married January 5, 1991 in Pikeville, Kentucky, Children: Barry (Penny) Ratliff of Marion, Pam (Rocky) Hawk of Mt. Gilead, Judy (Thomas) Richardson of Mt. Gilead, Connie Gandee of Fulton, Jerry (Eve) Ratliff of Mt. Gilead, Deborah (James) Smith of Hillard, James R. (Deborah) Smith Jr. of Marengo, 20 Grandchildren: Joshua, Nikki Harrison, Michelle, Mandy Hawk, Mindy (Jason) Urbano, Nathan (Fiancé Samantha) Richardson, Lacie (Shawn) Shipman, Joshua, Kyle Gandee, Cameron, Shelby Ratliff, Anthony (Terrie), Cami (Tony) Netton, Shannon, Chrissie, Cory (DeAnna), Rick Jr., Travis, Shilo, Richard, and Cameron Smith, 3 Great-Grandchildren: Grace Shipman, Corbin Smith, Anthony Schuster, Brothers: Roger (Sue) Mullins of Lansing, MI, Danny (Ann) Mullins of Elkhorn City, KY, Ronnie Mullins of Laurel, MD, Mother-in-law: Myrtle Smith of Sunbury, and Labrador Retriever: Tess. Also preceded in death by her First Husband of 27 years: Raymond Ratliff on June 30, 1979, Son’s: Terry Ratliff in 1957, Ricky Smith in 1996, Son-in-law: John Gandee in 1995, 3 Brothers: Jimmy, Paul, and Kenneth Mullins. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury, where services will be held Wednesday 11:00 a.m. with her husband Pastor J.R. Smith officiating.
