From: KyArchives Sent: October 6, 2013, 4:35 pm To: Ky-Footsteps Subject: Murphy-to-Legrange.1819.Nelson.DEED Written: April 2, 1819 Recorded: April 3, 1819 Nelson County Kentucky Deed Book 13 p. 253-254 This Indenture made this second day of April one thousand eight hundred & nineteen between Aaron Legrange & Anna his wife of the State of Indiana of the one part and Hezekiah Murphey of Nelson County Kentucky of the other part Witnesseth that for & in consideration of the sum of Eighteen hundred dollars to him the said Legrange in hand paid by the said Murphey the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained & sold aliened and confirmed and by their presents doth grant bargain sale alien & confirm unto the said Murphey his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the aforesd County of Nelson on the Waters of Plumb run a branch of Simpsons Creek and bounded as follows (towit) Beginning at a hickory corner left Charles Medhoff thence North 41 1/2 West Sixty four poles to two white oaks thence South 48 1/2 west ninety three & three fourth poles to a hackberry & stow corner to the heirs of Danl Tichenor decd. thence South 41 1/4 East one hundred & seventy six poles to a white oak & walnut stump on the banks of a branch thence North 48 1/2 East ninety four poles to a hickory corner to Christopher Ludwick thence South 41 1/2 East with his line Seventy three poles to a horny Locust & hickory thence North 18 East 42 poles to a stone in the middle of the road leading from Fairfield to Springfield thence with Said road as follows North 37 West Eighty eight poles thence North 15 West Sixty two poles, thence North 22 West twenty three poles to a stake in said road near a Shellbark hickory on the side of a branch thence South 48 West seventy nine & a half poles to the Beginning containing by estimation one hundred & fifty acres To Have and to hold the aforesaid Tract or parcel of land with all and singular its appurtinances thereunto belonging to him the said Hezekiah Murphey his heirs and assings forever to him and their only proper use and behoof and the said Aaron Legrange and Anna his wife doth hereby covenant and agree with the said Muprhey his heirs & that they will warrant and forever defend the aforesd Land against themselves their heirs and every other person claiming under by or through them in any wise but no other and in case the said land or any part of it should be taken by any other other claim the said Legrange is not to be accountable in way for the same but the said Legrange does covenant agree & hereby make over to the said Murphey all his rights of recourse upon Nicholas Langsford & John Bruner he having purchased said land from them.
