Ky Will Bk B, P 187 Written: March 13, 1812 Recorded: June 1812 Transcription: NEWTON Will In the name of God Amen, I Ignatius NEWTON of Washington County and state of Kentucky being of sound mind and good memory being in a state of health and knowing it is appointed for al men once to die do constitute this my last will and Testament. Item 1st I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Susanna The plantation whereon I now live containing seventy one acres during her life and all the rest of my property of every kind I also leave her during her life. I also direct that such property as my wife and my daughter _____ contest _____ ______ to ____ to the amount of fifteen dollars to pay a debt to Charles SUTTON Item 2nd It is also my will and desire that while my son Ignatius and my daughter Betsy lives with my wife if they can make anything of the plantation more than ____ ____ my wife decently it is to be their own and come into _________ hereafter. Item 3rd I also will and direct that my wife if she chewses May sell the plantation and property and live on the money so as not to waste it to hand the heirs. I will my son Ignatius ten dollars Item 4th I do will and direct that after the death of my wife the property shall be sold equally divided amongst all my children I have living or if my wife should sell the property then what money is left at her death to be equally divided among my children. I will my daughter Betsey her ____ I also direct that my wife shall be sole manager of the place while she lives. My children shall not sell the place nor bring any body into the house to live without her consent.
