2006 Trent-Dowell Funeral Home obituaries
R. Sidney Owen, Jr. age 82 of Falls of Rough, KY died Tuesday, October 3, 2006 
at University Hospital in Louisville, KY as the result of an automobile 
accident. Sid was born in Breckinridge County on August 12,1924, the son of the 
late R. Sidney Owen,Sr and Ola Pearl Owen. He was the co-owner and founder of 
Hardinsburg Tire Service, a farmer, WWII Army veteran, Deacon Emeritus of 
Goshen Baptist Church, Worthy Patron of Hardinsburg O.E.S #448,  Past High 
Priest of Western Star Chapter 20 R.A.M., Past Master of Breckinridge Lodge 
#67, Past Master of Pleasant Grove Lodge, Past Illustrious Master of Owensboro 
Council #34, Past Commander of Owensboro Commandery #15, Member of Advisory 
Board of Hardinsburg Assembly #34, Past member of Lincoln Trail Economic 
Development Committee. Uncle Sid was also very well known and recognized for 
his radio ads for Hardinsburg Tire Service. 
 
Sid was preceded in death by his wife - Margaret Owen
2 daughters - Karen Owen and Margaret Ellen Owen
a brother - W.R. Owen
  
Funeral services will be held on Friday,10-6-2006 at 1PM at Goshen Baptist 
Church in Glen Dean,KY with Rev. Daniel Wightman officiating. Burial will be in 
the Ivy Hill Cemetery in Hardinsburg,KY with military honors. Visitation will 
be held on Thursday from 2:30 - 8:00PM and after 8:30AM Friday at Trent-Dowell 
Funeral Home in Hardinsburg, KY.
 
Memorial contributions may be made to: Goshen Baptist Church or Hardinsburg 
Rainbow Assembly #34
