PAXTON November 2, 1904 Ohio-Hancock County KyArchives Obituaries Breckinridge News, Cloverport, Ky., Wednesday, November 9, 1904 OBITUARY Page 3, Column 1 AT BEAVER DAM -- DEATH COMES TO J. N. PAXTON, FORMERLY OF PATESVILLE AND A WIDELY KNOWN MAN -- J. N. PAXTON, formerly of Patesville, and a man widely known in this county, and the Green River section of the state, died last Wednesday morning, November 2, 1904, at Beaver Dam, Ohio County, Ky. The interment was at the PAXTON burying grounds near White Sulphur Springs, between Beaver Dam and Rochester. Mr. PAXTON had been in poor health for years, but his condition was not so serious until several months ago. About a month ago, on account of bad health, he dissolved partnership with William LYNCH, at Patesville, and two weeks later, went to Beaver Dam. His death was due to consumption (now called tuberculosis). For about six years, Mr. PAXTON was in the general merchandise business at Patesville with Mr. LYNCH, the style of the first being PAXTON & LYNCH. He was the most successful merchant Patesville ever had. Previous to his going to Patesville, he was in business with MONTAGUE Brothers at Delaware, Ky and Cromwell, Ky. Mr. PAXTON was 33 years old. Only two years ago, he married Miss Alma BROWNING of Beech Grove, Ky. His wife and one brother, A. E. PAXTON of Louisville, Ky (Jefferson County), the Southern Representative of the Kentucky Jeans Clothing Company, survives him. About a year and a half ago, Mr. PAXTON transferred his membership in the Masonic Lodge in Deleware to the Lodge in this city, where he was well-known. His church membership was held in the Methodist Episcopal Church South, at Cromwell. The news of Mr. PAXTON'S death was received with expressions of regret by many friends and acquaintances in Louisville, Owensboro (Daviess County), and the Green River country, where he was a man who was known and liked for his worth and sterling qualities.
