Mack Peden 1925 Barren County KyArchives Obituaries Unknown Glasgow KY newspaper "ACCIDENT FATAL TO J. MACK PEDEN. Mr. Jim Mack Peden as killed out the Burkesville road two miles, near the home of Mr. J. J. Jameson, Tuesday morning, in a very tragic manner. Mr. Peden's home was on Boyd's Creek, three and a half miles from town, driving a blind horse. About the time he reached the residence of Mr. Jameson, he had an accident, no one will ever know just how, but Mr. Jameson head his hollow "whoa" at the horse, and going out he found Mr. Peden, his horse and buggy all overturned in a heap. Some friends came along and they got Mr. Peden out and carried him to Mr. Jameson's residence. A doctor was called and he was brought to consciousness, and died about two hours after the accident. Mr. Peden was about 72 years of age, and was one of the best known citizens of this section. He was one of the most active democratic workers, and at the time of his death was deeply interested in the pending campaign. He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Nan Spencer, and te! n children. They are Mrs. Wesley Wells and Mrs. John Chapman of the Chestnut Grove country, Mrs. Hawley Bertram of Temple Hill, Mrs. Brown of Illinois, Mrs. Morris Simmons of this place, Messrs. Harry Peden whose residence we do not know, Robert of Detroit, Ben of Montana, Ray of Bethel and Archie who lived with his parents. One sister, Miss Willie Peden of Smiths Grove survives him. He was the first death in the family as he and his sister were the only children of his parents, and he and his wife had never lost a child. Wile Mr. Peden was an ardent party worker, he as a courteous gentleman and had the respect and confidence of the entire community, and his sudden demise has cast a pall over the entire community. The burial was in the Glasgow cemetery, yesterday, after funeral services conducted by Rev. J. H. Swann."
