Penticost July 3, 1830 Trigg County KyArchives Deed Written: July 3, 1830 Recorded: September 20, 1830 Trigg County, Kentucky Deed Book D, pg. 41-42 THIS INDENTURE, MADE THIS THIRD DAY OF July, in the year of our Lord, one thousand, eighteen hundred and thirty, between John C. Penticost of the county of Trigg, and State of Kentucky, of the one part, and Gregory D. Johnson Sr. of the county and state aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth, that the sd. Jno. C. Penticost for and in consideration of One hundred and fifty dollars in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain and sell unto the Sd. Gregory D. Johnson Senr. his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land situate and being in the county and state aforesaid on Tennessee River and bounded as followeth, towit: Begining at a hackberry on the bank of the river, at the mouth of Barnett’s Creek thence N. 54 poles to a white oak on the bank of the creek thence N. 61º E. 96 poles to two black hickories and poplars, thence N. 20º E. 56 poles to a Spanish oak and poplar thence N. 47º E 48 poles to a poplar thence N. 58º E. 60 poles to a hickory, and post oak William Grace’s corner, thence with his line N. 40º W. 80 poles to a Spanish Oak, ash and elm, thence N. 68º W. 20 poles to a poplar and dogwood thence S. 36º West 66 poles to a red oak and two hickories, thence West 38 poles to a forked Chestnut thence S 45º W. 140 poles to a white oak and elm, on the bank of the river thence up the meanders of the river S. 20º E. 70 poles to a stake thence South 34º E. 70 poles to the beginning. Containing One hundred and fifty acres, be the same more or less together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging, or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold the land hereby conveyed with the appertenances unto the said Gregory D. Johnson Sr., his heirs and assigns for ever. The said Jno. C. Penticost for himself his heirs executors and administrators the aforesaod Tract of land and appurtenances unto the sd. Gregory D. Johnson Sr. his heirs or assigns against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever doth and will for ever warrant and defend by these presents. Johnson, Senr. was produced to me, in my office on the 24th day of August 1830, and proven before me by the oath of M. Johnson a subscribing witness thereto, to be the act and deed of said John D. Penticost, the grantor, and on this 20th day of September, 1830, the same was again fully proven before me by the oath of F. Jameson, the other subscribing witness.
