County Clerk Written: February 26, 1856 Recorded: March 18, 1856 Be it known to all persons to whom these presents may come that I Joseph Perkins of the County of Clinton and State of Kentucky being under affliction of body but sound of mind and believing that my time here in this world is of but short duration and wishing to arrange my worldly affairs before my departure from this life do make this my last Will and Testament. After first bequeathing my Soul to God who gave it and my body to its mother dust, do wish my worldly estate both personal and real to be disposed of in the following manner. After all my just debts being paid and my body decently buried, I leave to my son William Perkins Eight Hundred dollars exclusive of Five I have already given him and to my son Christopher Perkins I give the tract of land on which he now lives, it being the land laid off for him, it being a part of a Two Hundred and Twenty-five acre tract and a Negro man named Coleman to hold the same during his life but at his death to his legal heirs, and I also leave to my Daughter Lurancy, wife of John Groce, the tract of land on which they now live containing Sixty-five acres and also a Negro boy called Ben and Three Hundred dollars in money and at her death to her legal heirs and I do also leave to the heirs of Lewis Perkins, deceased, Three Hundred dollars and a Black Girl called Mariah and to my Daughter Rebecca, wife of James Summers, the land on which he now lives supposed to contain Sixty-two acres and a Black Girl called Jane and her child to hold the same during his life and at his death to belong to his legal heirs and I do also leave to my son Joseph H. Perkins the land on which he now lives, supposed to contain Seventy acres, it being the balance of the Two Hundred and Twenty-five acre tract as already divided between Joseph H. Perkins, Christopher Perkins, and James Summers and also one Negro Boy named Daniel to hold the same during his life and at his death to belong to his legal heirs and I do leave to my Daughter Polly, wife of John Keeton, deceased, Five Hundred dollars and a Black Girl called Hariet to hold the same during her life and at her death to belong to her legal heirs and the balance of my estate both personal and real at my death to be sold and the money equally divided amongst all my legal heirs. H. Hopkins, and William Coop, the Subscribing Wi9tness there to and the execution of the said Will by the Testator in the presence of the Witness and their Subscription thereto as proven by the aforesaid Witnesses and said Will was thereupon, by the Court, admitted to record as the last Will and Testament of Joseph Perkins, Dec'd.
