She was born in Baxter, Ky. and moved to Pineville, Ky. as a child. A graduate of Bowling Green College with a degree in business, she married Gene (Ulys E.) Phillippi in 1942 and continued to live in Pineville, Ky. while her husband was overseas. In Pineville, she belonged to a professional women's club. They moved to Knoxville, Tn. in 1950 and she became an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church and was a previous member of First Christian Church of Knoxville and Pineville, Ky. June was also a member of the Ossoli Circle Women's Club, Knoxville Symphony League and the Knoxville Museum of Art. June was an avid reader and Bridge player. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Jack and Theodosia Carroll, sisters Thelma Carroll, Lois Helen Carroll Kennedy and Ruth Carroll. Uncle Bradley Carroll and great nephew Andrew Howick. She is survived by her husband, Gene (Ulys E.) Phillippi; daughter Carolyn Raatz; sister in law Kathryn Dodson; brother in law LeRoy Kennedy; nephews Dan Phillippi, Bob Phillippi and Pat Howick; nieces Karen Howick, Martha Kennedy, Pam Phillippi and Gay Phillippi; two great nephews and two great nieces and one great-great niece. June was blessed with many friends to numerous to count. Funeral service 12:00 p.m. Noon Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at Messiah Lutheran Church with Rev. Eric Murray officiating. June will then be removed to Durham Funeral Home in Pineville, Ky. for a 3:00 p.m. funeral service with burial to follow at Pineville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday at Messiah Lutheran Church. Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel in charge.
