Deed Bk A, pp 163, 164 This Indenture made this twenty fifth day of January one thousand eight hundred and ninety [six??] Between Philip Philips and Susannah his wife of Cumberland of the one part and William McCLUNG of Nelson County and State of Kentucky of the other part Witnesseth that the said Philip PHILIPS & wife for and in consideration of the sum of forty five pounds Virg Currency in hand paid to them the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge have granted Bargained and sold and by these presents do grant Bargain sell alien & confirm to the said William McCLUNG two hundred and thirty acres of land lying and being in Hardin County on the waters of Bear Creek and bounded as follows towit. Beginning at corner to William Nourses [?] near the head of the second large water fork of Bear Creek above the mouth and running thence with said Nourses [?] line south sixty degrees East three hundred and thirty five poles to said NOURSES corner a Black oak and stake thence north Eighty six degrees East fo rty seven poles to a white oak and stake thence north four degrees East one hundred and Eighty five poles to the line of the said Philips Survey and with the said line South Eighty six degrees west three hundred and fifty one poles to the Beginning. To have and to hold the said tract of land with the appurtenances to the said William McCLUNG & his heirs for ever to the only proper use benefit of him & his heirs for ever and the said Philip PHILIPS & wife for themselves and heirs do Covenant and agree with the said William McCLUNG and his heirs that they the said Philip PHILIPS and their Heirs will for Ever warrant and defend the said tract of land to the said William McCLUNG and his Heirs against the Claim or Claims of all and Every person or persons whatsoever.
