From: KyArchives [Archives@genrecords.org] To: Ky-Footsteps Subject: Pratt.William-Pierce.Uriah.And.Louisa.(stringer).1848.Bullitt-Spencer.DE ED William Pratt - Uriah and Louisa (Stringer) Pierce August 11, 1848 Bullitt-Spencer County KyArchives Deed Written: August 11, 1848 Recorded: August 12, 1848 Deed - PIERCE to PRATT Deed Book L, Page 300 Other names mentioned: STRINGER This Indenture made and entered into this 11the day of August 1848 by and between Uriah PIERCE and Louisa PIERCE his wife, late Louisa STRINGER one of the children and heirs of Richard STRINGER died late of Bullitt County, said Pierce & wife now residing in the County of Bullitt State of Kentucky of the first part, and William PRATT of the County of Spencer and state aforesaid of the second part. - Witnesseth that the said PIERCE and wife for and in consideration of the sum of sixty dollars in hand paid the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge to have received, and have received of the said PRATT -- They have this day granted, bargained and sold and do by these presents, grant, bargain and sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said PRATT all their undivided interest which they have of in and to a tract of land situate on the north side of salt river in Bullitt County said tract supposed to contain one hundred acres more or less and being the same tract of land on which Richard STRINGER the Father of said Louisa PIERCE decd seized and possessed of and being the same tract of land that Gernima STRINGER Widow of the decd now lives on. To Have and to hold said undivided interest in said described tract or parcel of land With the appertenances thereunto belonging unto the said William PRATT and his heirs To His and their only proper use benefit and behoof forever and the said Uriah PIERCE and his wife Louisa PIERCE covenamt and agree to and with the said William PRATT that the land hereby conveyed bargained and sold to him by this deed. they will and their heirs shall warrant and forever defend the title thereof unto the said William PRATT his heirs _ free and clear of all the claim or claims of al and every person lawfully claiming or to claim the same - (It expressly understood that said PRATT takes the land with the incumberance of dower) In Testimony whereof the said Uriah PIERCE and his wife Louisa PIERCE have here to set their hands and affixed their seals, the day and year first above named All erasures and interlineations Uriah PIERCE Seal made before signed. Signed sealed Louisa PIERCE Seal acknowledged and delivered in presence of State of Kentucky Bullitt County Seal Towit I Noah C SUMMERS clerk of the County Court for said County Certify that this deed from Uriah PIERCE and Louisa PIERCE his wife to William PRATT was the 12the day of August 1848 produced to me in my office and acknowledged by said Uriah PIERCE and wife to be their act and deed, she the said Louisa PIERCE being examined by me seperately and apart from her said husband as the law requires declared that she did freely and wilingly seal and deliver said deed and wished not to retract it and acknowledged said deed again shown and explained to her to be her voluntary act and deed and consented that the same might be recorded and thereupon the same and this certificate are truly recorded in my office this 12th day of August 1848 ATT N.
