Subject: Purdy.Bert.1964.Marion-Casey.OBIT Bert Purdy March 31 1964 Marion-Casey County KyArchives Obituaries Lebanon Enterprise, Thursday, April 2, 1964 Bert Purdy 85, Dies While Working Garden Bert Purdy, 85 year-old Bradfordsville carpenter and farmer, died suddenly of a heart attack Tuesday, just after going out in his own back-yard to plant his garden. A son of Len and Emma Drye Purdy, he was a native of Casey County, but had lived at Bradfordsville for many years. He was a deacon in Bradfordsville Christian Church, and for many years served as superintendent of Old Liberty Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nettie Mullins Phillips Purdy, to whom he was wed in 1921; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Walter Hogan, and stepgranddaughter, Miss Becky Hogan, both of Bradfordsville. The body was brought to Drye Funeral Home. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. yesterday at Bradfordsville Christian Church by Rev. Everett Reynolds. Burial was in Old Liberty Cemetery. Pallbearers were Carl and Leo Adkins, Eugene and Lucien Raikes, Hillary Coffman and Everett Tucker.
