Joe Ramey Retired Miner dies August 1
Joe Ramey, 68, retired miner of Van Lear, died in a local Hospital at 11:30am Wednesday, 
August 1, after an illness of two months.  Alifelong resident of Van Lear, he was born 
January 2, 1892, the son of Dan and Sarah Collins Ramey.  He was a member of the Church 
of Christ.  Survivors include his wife Mrs. Marie Wells Ramey; five sons, Charles K. Ramey, 
Harrison, Ohio: William J. U.S, Armey, Ft. Dix, N J; James A. , Nicholsville, Ky; Howard 
B. West Van Lear; Jackie L., Aurora, Indiana; a daughter Alka Mae Webb, Taylor, Michigan; 
three brothers, Hayes, Van Lear; George, Kansas City, MO; Rube, city; a sister, Mrs. Clay 
Bowlin, West Van Lear.  Funeral Services were conducted Saturday at 1:30 pm, at the West 
Van Lear Church of Christ with S.C. Honeycutt and Cecil Sherman as officiating ministers.  
Burial was in Highland Park.

This was my grandfather and his actual birth date I believe was Jan 1 1893.  
His wifes name was Maxie not Marie.
