Reaves February 25, 1903 Clinton County KyArchives Obituaries Clear Fork Baptist Church Records The following is an obituary for James E REAVES. Born 15 Jan 1823; departed this life 25 Feb 1903; professed religion and joined the church at Wolf River on 1st Sat in Nov 1854. Ordained as a Deacon 1st Sat Apr 1861 by a presbytery consisting of Bros Wm DOWELL, Jenkins TOMPLINS & R L REEVES. Dismissed by letter 1st Sat Nov 1873. Joined the Baptist church at Clear Fork 4th Sat Feb 1874. Faithful member of the church; he never knowingly did an injustice to his brethren and if he did unconsciously he was swift and ready to make reparation. On his death the Church lost one of its best members and councillors and the community one of its best citizens. Those who survive him here will struggle on for a few years at most and will then like him be gathered to the world beyond to receive the reward which awaits those who perform faithfully and well all their duties here below. Brother REAVEWS is lost to us but not to his God. "He that believeth in me though he is death, yet shall he live, and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die." May his family and relation live like him God grant that the light of Bro REAVES left behind him may illuminate the path of all his relations and members of Cleark Fork Church that they may be prepared to meet him beyond the Jordan of life."
