Earl C. Reed, 88, retired Nicholas County farmer, died last Thursday morning at the Nicholas County Hospital after a brief illness.

A native of Nicholas County, he was a member of the Little Rock Christian Church and a 50-year member of Hope Lodge F & AM.

Survivors include two step-daughters, Mrs. Robert Browning and Mrs. William Wagoner, both of Montgomery County; a sister, Mrs. Ina B. Alexander, Nicholas County; a brother, James E. Reed. Lexington.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Charles L. Cooper at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mathers-Shearer Funeral Home. Burial was in the Carlisle Cemetery.
