Howard Reed Jan. 22, 1919-April 7, 1997 ORLEANS -- Howard Reed, 78, Orleans, died at 5:15 a.m. today at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehab Center, Mitchell. Born in Clay County, Ky., he was the son of Felix and Altha (Bond) Reid. He married Mildred Faulkner on Nov. 18, 1939, and she survives. He was a retired truck driver for Mitchell Transport, a charter member of Orleans Church of the Nazarene and a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of Orleans American Legion Warren Brock Post No. 69. Surviving in addition to his wife, Mildred Reed of Orleans, are two sons: Howard L. and Stephen Reed, both of Orleans; two daughters: Nancy Hamilton of Mitchell and Betty Allen of Orleans; three brothers: Lynwood Reid of Louisville, Ky., Lowell Reid of California and Kenneth Reid of Bedford; four sisters: Thelma Natchiechioni of Cincinnati, Margie Wininger of Clarksville, Tenn., Rebecca Shultz of Mitchell and Patty Brewer of Campbellsburg; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Cemetery, Orleans, with the Rev. Wayne Heidle officiating. Graveside military rites will be accorded by members of Orleans American Legion Warren Brock Post No. 69. There will be no visitation.
