He was born April 3, 1757, in Prince William County, Virginia. He enlisted in Prince William County, Virginia troops in the minute service uniformed in "a purple hunting shirt marked in the breast in large letters 'Libberty or Death' with Macaroni hat and bucktail" under Captain Cuthbert Harrison and Colonel Jesse Ewell. He enlisted again under Captain Henry Hoe or Hough, Colonel Jesse Swell's regiment. He enlisted again in Captain Simon Hancock's company, Colonel Mathews' regiment. After the Revolution he lived in Prince William and Loudoun Counties, Virginia, until 1784 when he moved to Fayette County, Kentucky where he resided for some years. He then lived in Harrison and Bourbon Counties, Kentucky. He died January 30 or 31, 1837. He married August 3, 1775, at her father's residence in Fauquier County, Virginia, Mary, the daughter of Charles Chinn. She applied for pension in 1838 when she was eighty-four years of age and a resident of Bourbon County, Virginia. There are no references to children.
