RICE, EDWARD A. - age 86 of Powell, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at 
the Baptist Hospital. He was born April 7, 1918 in Pineville, Ky. He was the 
son of the late Jimmy and Julie Baker Rice, a Mason, and WW II veteran of the 
US Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Rice; brothers, Curtis 
and James Rice; sisters, Susie, Clara and Ethel. Survivors: 3 daughters, Edra 
Rice, Powell, Elizabeth Gibbs, Franklin, Tenn., Sharon Shelton, New Market; 
grandchildren, Shelly Gibbszabel Tara Gibbs Ward, Jonathan Shelton, Matthew 
Shelton; 4 great grandchildren; and a host of niece, nephews, other relative 
and friends. Funeral services held 2 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2004 at the 
Creech Funeral Home, Rev. James Ely officiating. Music provided by Carolyn 
Williams. Interment Green Hills Memorial Gardens, pallbearers: sons in law and 
grandsons in law. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Saturday at 
the Creech Funeral Home Middlesboro, Ky.
