She was born in Simms Fork on April 29, 1909 the daughter of the late James and Lucy Bailey Napier. She had been a housewife and mother and was a member of Community Harvest Tabernacle Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death her husband, Tilmon Rice, children, Herman, Christine, Claude, Carl and Diane Rice and a brother Andrew Jackson Napier. Survivors include her children, Homer and Irene Rice, Edna Pegg, Lois and Delbert Sanders, Clyde and Glenna Rice, Doris and Jerry Tindell, Faye and Jack Cornett, David and Mary Rice, James and Judy Rice, Tilmon and Eva Rice and Carolyn and Tommy Murphy; daughters-in-law, Letha Rice and Faye Rice Nolan; 32 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister Irene Brock and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services were at 2 PM Thursday at the Community Harvest Tabernacle Church in Brownies Creek with Rev. Danny Daniels and Randy Rice officiating. Music provided by Sherry Baker, Melissa Creech, Rebecca Long and Jill Ramey. Burial followed in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro. Pallbearers were her grandsons.
