"Mrs. W. F. Richardson succumbs today after long illness. Funeral services to 
be held tomorrow afternoon at the Baptist Church at Four O'clock. Organizer of 
the Glasgow Library and Prominent in the civic affairs of Glasgow. Mrs. W. F. 
Richardson, one of Glasgow's most prominent and beloved ladies, died at the 
home of her daughter, Mrs. Paul Jones, on Maple Driveway this morning at 10 
o'clock after an extended illness. Mrs. Richardson had been in delicate health 
for a number of years, and had been confined to her room over a year. Over a 
year ago she retired from active work as head of the Glasgow Library, which 
she organized several years ago.

"Mrs Richardson who, before her marriage, was Miss Bernice Summers, was born 
near Hiseville, December 22, 1872, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. 
Cyrus Summers, and received her education at Hiseville and at Glasgow. In 
December 1894 she was married to Mr. Richardson. They moved to Glasgow a short 
time after that, and have made their home here ever since.

"Interested in all things for the betterment of her community, Mrs. Richardson 
was a leader in many of the civic and religious affairs of the town and the 
county. She was a devoted and active member of the Baptist Church, having 
taught in the Sunday School there many years. Club work and library activities 
received a generous amount of her time and effort. Several years ago she 
organized the library here, which under her competent management grew into an 
institution of vital importance to the cultural life of the town. With her 
passing Glasgow has lost one of its most valuable citizens.

"Besides her husband, Mr. W. F. Richardson, she is survived by three 
daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Bessey, Washington, D. C., Mrs. Sarah Hill Heaton, 
San Antonio, Texas, and Mrs. Louise Jones of Glasgow; and one son, W. F. 
Richardson, Jr. of Evansville, Indiana. A sister, Mrs. Bessie Jewell Hensley 
of Kansas City, and three brothers, Larkin Summers, Hiseville, Charles 
Summers, Nashville, and Roy Summers of Louisville, also survive.

"Funeral services are to be conducted at the Baptist Church by the Rev. A. J. 
Gaines tomorrow afternoon at four o'clock. Interment will be in the Glasgow 
Cemetery."
