Eva Watkins, his daughter and my aunt, told me that Will Roberts and Betsy Asher were not married when Betsy had James. Will later married Sallie Napier. Will took James from Betsy and raised him with the children he had with Sallie. Eva also stated that Sallie was not kind to James.
