Rev. G. G. Lyle of Bradfordville, a former pastor conducted the service, using as his text "Remember Thy Creator in the Days of Thy Youth." He paid a beautiful tribute to the memory of the deceased. Carl was the youngest son of Will Ross and Mary Gillingwater Ross. He was born January 30, 1928. Besides his parents he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Wathen St. Clair, and four brothers, Earl and Wathen Ross, of Irvington, Sgt. Cecil Ross, who is in the Philippines, and Pvt. Will Stanley Ross, of Texas, one brother Abel Ross preceded him in death ten years ago. Carl professed faith in Christ August 13, 1939 and joined the Bewleyville Methodist Church. He was very much loved by all who knew him. He was laid to rest in the Bethel Cemetery. A large crowd attended the funeral and burial. Among those who attended the funeral from a distance were: Mrs. and Mrs. Mack Ross, Mrs. Glen Board, Miss Pauline Board, Wm. Board and Wilbur Storms of Mattoon, Ill.; Mrs. Oda Miller, Mrs. Pearl Hopkins, Mrs. Fannie Godwin, Mrs. Bill Nottingham, Miss Evelyn Ross and Russell Ross of Louisville. The following is taken from Sunday Courier-Journal: Carl Pal Ross, 17, of Route 2, Irvington, was killed about 8:15 Saturday in a collision of an automobile and an Army jeep in which three soldiers were riding about three miles west of Brandenburg on Highway 60, Deputy Coroner Charles Spilman reported. Ross was taken to St. Anthony Hospital, Louisville, but was pronounced dead on arrival, Spilman said. The driver of the car in which Ross was riding, Lloyd Triplett,17, Irvington, was injured seriously and is in St. Anthony. Injured slightly were three other passengers in Triplett's car: Miss Violet Board, 19, and Miss Thelma Bandy, 14, both of Irvington, and Mrs. Mary Kiper, 17, of Louisville who was visiting her sister, Miss Bandy.
