John W. Sargent, 77 retired farmer , died Friday at his home in Carlisle after 
an apparent heart attack.

A native of Bath County , he was a member of the Christian Church, veteran of 
World War 1 and a member of the American Legion and VFW> .
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Pearl Mason Sargent; four sisters, Mrs. Bishop 
Wilson, Montgomery County; Mrs Gano Terrell, Dearborn, Mo.; Mrs. Ward Tomlin, 
Paris, and Mrs. Carl Calvert, Bourbon County.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Harold Rice and the Rev. Neil Thompson at 2 
p.m. Sunday at the Mathers-Shears Chapel. Burial was in the Carlisle Cemetery.
