Bernard Scherrer, 85, died Friday aftertoon at home.

He retired from the State Public Aid Office.

Surviving are his wife, Catherine; three daughters, Mary Hall of
Plainfield, Janet Butler of Uniontown, and Norma Phillips of Hurst, TX; 
two sons, Raymond of Shawneetown and Charles of Cadiz, KY.; five brothers,
Edward of Belingham, WA, George and William, both of Shawneetown, John of
Ridgway and Robert of Hilton Head, SC; nine grandchildren and six great
grandchildren.

Services were at 10am Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with
burial in Westwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary
Church, Health Watch or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
