                                Lewis Shannon 
        Elza Lewis Shannon, 54, of 337 Long Ave., died at 6:50 a.m. 6-December- 
1981 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon, Marion County, Kentucky. 
        Mr. Shannon, a native of Casey County and formerly of Gravel Switch, 
was born 8-August-1927.  He was the son of the late Edgar and Daisy Girtley 
Shannon. 
        Mr. Shannon was a farmer and was also retired from Genesco in 
Danville, Kentucky.  He was also an Army veteran.  
        Survivors include his wife, Mildred Roller Shannon; one son, Michael 
(Kathy) of Loretto; one daughter, Mrs. Jay (Virgie) Johnson of Danville; three 
sisters, Mrs. Frances Beckwith of Crestwood, Mrs. Mildred Roller of Seymour, 
Ind. and Mrs. Josephine Shuck of New Albany, Ind; three grandchildren, Rebecca 
and Karen Johnson of Danville and Katie Shannon of Loretto.  He was preceded 
in death by a daughter, Ramona.  
        Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at Bosley Funeral 
Home with burial in Haysville Cemetery.  Rev. Jim Currey officiated and was 
assisted by Jerry Lanham. 
        Pallbearers were Thomas Whitehouse, Wayne Hollon, Ed Funk, Jerry 
Akers, Billy Reynolds, and Carl Roller. 
        Bosley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
