Deed bk L, p 269-270 Shawler/Kalfus/Huffman This Indenture made and entered into this 16th day of November 1846 by and between James B. Shawler and his wife Martha Shawler of the county of Edmonson State of Kentucky and William Shawler and Lucinda Shawler his wife of the County of Bullitt and State aforesaid of the first part and Henry R. Kalfus of Shepherdsville, county and state aforesaid of the second part. Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of forty five dollars current money to them in hand paid the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge. Have this day granted bargained and sold, and by these presents grant, bargain and sell, ______ edmonson county and confirm unto the party of the second part, all there rights to the claim and interest they have as heirs of Jacob Shawler and Mary Shawler, being their father and mother now dead, in a certain lot of land adjoining the Town of Shepherdsville situate between the ___ yard of said Kalfers and the Methodist Episcopalian church house and _____ in the deed from Adam Shepherd to Jacob Shawler and George Shuck see Deed book A page 23 and said interest in said lot of land hereby bargained and sold is undivided. To Have and to Hold said undivided interest in said described lot or parcel of land with its appurtenances in to the said parties of the second part and to his heirs. To His and their only proper use benefit and behalf forever and the said parties of the first part covenant and agree to and with the said party of the second part, that their undivided interest in said described lot or parcel of land they will and their heirs shall warrant and forever defend the title thereof unto the said party of the second part his heirs & against the claim of all and every person lawfully claiming or to claim the same. In Testimony whereof the parties of the first part ____ ____ set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first mentioned. James B. Samuels ditto Kentucky Sct I Augustus M. Barrett clerk of the County Court of Edmonson in the state of Kentucky do certify that the foregoing deed of conveyance from James B. Shawler and Martha Shawler his wife and others to Henry F. Kalfus was this day produced to me in my office and acknowledged by the said Shawler to be his act and deed. ___ the said Martha Shawler being examined by me privily and apart from her husband declared that she did freely and willingly seal and deliver this writind and wishes not to retract it and acknowledged the same writing again ____ and explained to her to be her act and deed and consented that the same might be recorded. Given under my hand this 12th day of February 1847 A. M. Baret c clk Jacob Huffman and Catherine his wife who was Catherine Shawler a daughter of Jacob and Mary Shawler by their bond dated 29 August 1836 sold their interests in the Lot named in the annexed deed to James B. Shawler and said James B. Shawler sold the said interest of Huffman and wife to said H. F. Kalfus by the foregoing deed and assigned said Huffmans bond to said Kalfus the 16th Nov 1846 and said Kalfus gave said James B. Shawler for his own interest and the interest of said Huffman and wife the sum of $30. and intended by the foregoing deed to convey said interests of him said James B. Shawler and wife and Huffman & wife and said James B. Shawler and wife ____ parties has to so to explain said deed and do hereby covenant and agree to and with said Kalfus to warrant and forever defendto said Kalfus said interest of himself and wife and said Huffman and wife to him said Kalfus ___ the ______ of said Shawler and wife and said Huffman and wife and all other persons to the dull extent of their Interests in said lots described in said deed. Barret clerk of the County Court of Edmonson do certify that the foregoing deed of conveyance and or _____ from J. B. Shawler and Martha his wife to H. F. Kalfus was this day produced to me in my office and acknowledged by the said Shawler to be his act and deed. The said Martha being examined by me privily and apart from her husband declared that she did freely and willingly seal and deliver the said writing and wishes not to retract it, and acknowledges the said writing again she was and explained to her to be her act and deed and consented that the same may be recorded which is certified accordingly. Summers clerk of the County Court for said county certify that this deed from William Shawler and Lucinda Shawler his wife to Henry F.
