Glasgow (KY) Weekly Times, 19 Feb 1896
"Esq. G. W. Shive, who lived about 2 miles east of this place, died last Friday 
night of pneumonia fever. He had been sick only one week. He was a good and 
respected citizen, and had many friends. He was buried Sunday at the family 
burying grounds near his home."
