Funeral services were held on Monday, September 26, 1960 at the Alexander Funeral Home of Irvington, and burial was in Sandy Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers: Russell ASHCRAFT George ASHCRAFT Albert D. ASHCRAFT Fred NEAFUL (believe NEAFUS is correct) Roy NEAFUL Hays COWLEY Mrs. SIMMONS was born in Hardin County, Ky., the daughter of the late Olivia and Jacob H. COWLEY. At the age of seven, she moved with her family to Breckinridge County, and later established permanent residence at Sandy Hill in Meade County, Ky. She was first married to Mr. John REES, who died in 1891. Later she married Temple SIMMONS, a prominent merchant of Brandenburg (Meade County), Ky., who died in 1908. In beginning the operation of her Irvington Store, she was in partnership with her brother, Lon COWLEY. Several years before his death, she bought his interest, and continued operation alone until April of this year. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving Mrs. SIMMONS are: one son: Ernest REES, Dallas, Texas one sister: Mrs. Joe CRISTY, Minneapolis, Minnesota her step-son: Fred A. SIMMONS, Washington, D. C. three grandchildren: Mrs. W. M. H. SMITH, Chicago, Illinois Ernest REES, Jr., San Jose, California Dean M. REES, San Jose, California Numerous nieces and nephews, among whom is Claude B.
