DEATH -- DIED OF MENINGITIS Mr. James SIPES of Lewisport (Hancock County), Ky., expires after a short illness. James SIPES died Sunday morning, February 11, 1900, at his home about a mile below Lewisport of meningitis. He was sick only a few days. Only a week before, his father died of pneumonia. Young SIPES was about 20 years old, an industrious young farmer, and was well-known and highly respected. This is the only known case of meningitis that has occurred in that vicinity.
