She was born November 26, 1899 in Breckinridge County, a daughter of the late Henry Thomas BASHAM and Celia SMILEY BASHAM. Mrs. SMILEY was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church. Her husband, William Craven (W.C.) SMILEY and a daughter Verdie NOTTINGHAM, preceded her in death. Survivors include: three daughters: Ms. Della NOTTINGHAM of Harned, Ky (Breckinridge County) Ms. Edna WILSON of El Paso, Illinois (Woodford & McLean Counties) Ms. Frances WHEELER of Westview, Ky (Breckinridge County) three sons: Henry SMILEY of Muncie, Indiana (Delaware County) Harlin SMILEY of SeRee, Ky Jesse Ray SMILEY of Louisville, Ky (Jefferson County) one brother: Jester BASHAM of Radcliff, Ky (Hardin County) two sisters: Mrs. Clara GRAHAM of Leitchfield, Ky (Grayson County) Mrs. Curva HORSLEY of Westview, Ky 19 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 1988, at the Fairview United Methodist Church with the Reverend George Allgood, officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery with the Trent- Dowell Funeral Home, Hardinsburg, in charge of arrangements.
