"A 22-year-old Glasgow man, Ricky Lynn Smith, was fatally injured in a shooting incident that occured early Sturday around 2:30 am [7 Aug 1976], on Newman Street. "Police said that Smith, a resident of 608 Sun Valley Drive was shot four times with a .22 calibre rifle. He was reportedly shot in the head and upper part of the body. Smith was taken to City-County Hospitalin Bowling Green where he died Saturday night. "Degie Humphrey, 50, 100 Newman Street, Smith's uncle by marriage, has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting according to authorities. The shooting at the Humphrey home was apparently the result of an argument over money officials said. "Bond for Humphrey was set at $25,000. "Funeral services for Smith will be held at 2 pm Tuesday at Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home. Burial will be in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. "Survivors include his father, Virgil M. Smith, Glasgow, two half-brothers, Jackie Wooten, Louisville, James Wooten, Pomona Park, Florida, three sisters, Mrs June Hubble, Mrs. Judy Jones and Karen Sue Smith, all of Glasgow, and his grandmother, Mrs. May Smith, Glasgow."
