"MR. TOM HOOD SMITH DEAD. Mr. Thomas Hood Smith died in the home of his father, Dr. Jess Smith, last Thursday morning, in his fifty-third year, after a severe illness of about two weeks duration. Recently, he had sustained injuries from a runaway mule, which is thought to have aggitated his heart trouble, which he was known to have had and from which disease he died. "He was the oldest son of Dr. Jesse Smith, an extensive lumber dealer of this section of the State, and had been associated with his father in business for several years. He was prominent in the business circles of Glasgow and was a well known man on the lumber market. He was possessed of many excellent traits of a clever man and substantial citizen and enjoyed a wide circle of friends in Barren County. "A number of years ago he was married to Miss Mollie Daugherty, who with six children survives im: Misses Virginia, Lucille and Elizabeth Smith; Messrs. Rex and Garnett Smith, of Illinois, and Mr. Russell Smith, of Metcalfe County. "He was identified with the Christian Church and had been a member of that denomination since a young man. "The funeral services were conducted at the residence Friday afternoon, by Rev. S. G. Shelly, after which the remains wee interred in the cemetery at this place. The pall bearers were: Messrs.Alanson Trigg, Elzy Mitchell, J. C. Frances, Elvin Pedigo, Day Dickinson and A. E. Minick."
