He was born May 11, 1755. He enlisted in 1775 and served under Colonel Daniel Morgan until July 1776. He enlisted again when he was living in Frederick County, Virginia, and served until the fall of 1780. In the fall of 1781 he enlisted again and was at the surrender of Yorktown.
