Spillman, 83 years old, one of the oldest Baptist ministers in the state, died at his country home at Fountain Run, Sunday evening, at 5 o'clock, after several months illness of a complication of diseases." "Rev. Spillman attended 60 sessions of the Barren River Association of the Baptists, served the Liberty Baptist Association as moderator for 27 years, and was a member of the Mission Board for twenty years, serving as chairman and treasurer most of the time. He served as pastor of churches in Barren, Allen, Metcalfe, Monroe and Warren counties and one church in Tennessee. Some of his pastorial [sic] work continued many years, the longest being the Fountain Run church, which he served thirty-six years." "In the passing of Rev. Spillman the Baptist Church has lost one of its strongest and most faithful members." "Mr. Spillman is survived by one brother, Jess Spillman of Lucas, and a number of nephews and nieces." "Funeral services were conducted at the Fountain Run Baptist Church Monday afternoon by the pastor, the Rev. T. F. Grider, and the Rev. J. P. Brooks, lifelong friends of Mr. Spillman, and the burial was in the Fountain Run Cemetery." "The pallbears were Baptist ministers: Rev. Lon Steward and Rev. S. Steward of Harlan, Rev.
