D. Spotswood will be grieved to learn of the death of his mother, Mrs. E. R. Spotswood, last Friday at 1 o’clock at her home on East Maxwell street, Lexington. She had been ill since last July with softening of the brain, brought on by worry over the critical illness of her son. Mr. Alfred Spotswood, who was a victim of typhoid fever. She was one of the most prominent women of Lexington, being well known in both the social and literary circles of that city as well as being identified with all movements for good in her church. She has frequently visited here as the guest of Mrs. John H. Curry, and her sweet graciousness had endeared her to a large circle of friends. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock from the family residence, conducted by the two Presbyterian ministers, Dr. Kirkwood and Dr. Muller. She leaves four sons Messrs. Fred, Frank D. and Alfred Spotswood of Lexington, and Mr. Charles Spotswood, of Chicago. Her sons and Mr. John H. Curry, of this place were pall bearers. Those who attended the funeral from here were Mr. and Mrs. John H. Curry, M. Eugene Curry and Mr. John D. Mann.
