Herald June 25, 1942 CONCORD YOUTH DROWNS IN OHIO Funeral services for Ray Charles Spriggs, 16-year-old son of Mr. and 'Mrs, Cecil Spriggs who drowned in the Ohio river Sunday afternoon almost in front of his parents' home at Concord, were held Tuesday afternoon in the Methodist Church by Rev. Armitage and burial was in the Concord cemetery The youth drowned at 12:20 O’clock Sunday afternoon, as he and an elder brother was swimming. It is thought he suffered a heart attack. The body was not recovered until Sunday night at 7 o'clock and only then after the river was dragged, in that area the whole afternoon in an effort to find the body. Young Spriggs was one of fourteen children of Cecil Spriggs and wife. Besides his parents, he leaves thirteen brothers and sisters.
