Herald December 8, 1955 MRS. CORA LITER SPRIGGS Mrs Cora Liter Spriggs, mother of fourteen children, of whom ten are still living and widow of Charles Spriggs a C & O railroad man at Concord, died at 7:40 a. m. Friday at her home in Garrison. Had she lived another month she would have been 78 years old. A native of Bracken county, Mrs. Spriggs had lived much of her life in Lewis county, where for the past two years her home had been in Garrison. Living with her there was a son, Paul Spriggs. Mrs Spriggs had suffered from a heart ailment for ten years and for the past ten weeks, she had been bedfast. She was born December 28, 1877, the daughter of George and Sarah Stout Liter. She was a member of the Concord Christian Church. In Lewis county Mrs. Spriggs was well loved as having exemplifled fine quailities of motherhood and neighborliness. Her survivors include four sons and six daughters, Cecil Spriggs, of Garrison, the Rev. G. H. Spriggs, Methodist minister at Stirrat, W. Va., Gordon Spriggs of Huntington, and Paul Spriggs at home; Mrs. Meryl Rupe of Garrison, Mrs. Gladys Cogan of Concord, Mrs. Ethel Vance of Concord, Mrs. Alma Moffett of Covington, Mrs. Ruth Stone, of Pomeroy, Ohio, Mrs. Violet Copeland of Cinncinnati. Four children died in infancy and Mr. Spriggs's death occurred three years ago. There are a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
