Glasgow (KY) Weekly Times, 18July 1878.
"Mr. Joe Spriggs, brother-in-law of Mr. Perk Summers, of our county, who lived 
near Sonora, came to his death last Thursday, near that place, under very 
distressing circumstances. When heated from work in the harvest field, he 
plunged in a stream for a bath, when suddenly he was taken with cramps and was 
drowned. The accident is certainly a very sad one."
