Bernice L. Stephenson, 90, of Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation,
formerly of Portsmouth, Va., died Dec. 3 at Ephraim McDowell Regional
Medical Center.

Born Aug. 31, 1912, in Castell, Texas, she was a daughter of the late
Lee Fritz and Ida Weideman Liefeste. She was a registered nurse and
served in the Navy Nurse Corp. in World War II, where she earned the
rank of second lieutenant. She was a member of West End United
Methodist Church and Richard Dale Women's Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Marsha S. Hinton of Danville and
Mary Lynn Douglass of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Dorothy L. Harmon
of Kansas City, Kans.; and five grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Dec. 7 at Olive Branch Cemetery in
Portsmouth.

Totally) Inc., 1105 Elm St., Danville, KY, 40422.

Stith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
