In the name of God amen.  I William Stiff of Breckinridge County State of 
Kentucky being in my right mind make my last will and testament as follows to 
wit:  I bequeath to my wife Sarah Stiff the whole of my estate during her 
natural life or widowhood.  And at the close of the said Sarah Stiff's natural 
life or widowhood I wish and desire the said estate to be equally divided among 
my children taking into consideration what they have heretofore received of me 
[.]  Given under my hand the 19th day of November 1837.

Kentucky Breckenridge County To Wit 
County Court Monday May 18th 1840 
The above writing purporting to be the last will and testament of William Stiff 
deceased was produced in Court and duly proved to be the last will and 
testament of said William Stiff dec'd by the oath of Thomas D. Helm one of the 
subscribing witnesses thereto, And is ordered by the Court to be considered as 
fully proved and admitted to record[.]
