Michael David Sullivan, born 2 March 1938 Miami, FL, died 12 July 2003 in Orange County, California from complications of Parkinson’s disease, discovered by medical exam in December 1992,as Michael became a TWA 747 Aircraft Captain and employed with TWA since 1962 after returning to his home in 1960 at Louisville, Kentucky from a four year tour in the U.S. Airforce. Michael was the second born son of Ruth Lewis 1914 and Harry P. Sullivan 1898MO- 1958FL a Miami Herald Newspaper writer. Michael a graduate of Our Mother of Sorrows School and St. Xavier High School became an avid aviation enthusiast at Kentucky Flying Service of Bowman Field, and mentored by owner Mr. Richard Mulloy, whereas Michael then volunteered to enter in the U.S. Air Force, and during his activation became a FAA licensed private pilot and Flight Instructor. Michael upon completion of his military obligation, entered into Northrop Aviation Mechanic Certification in Hawthorne, California. Obtaining his FAA certification graduation he entered the employment of Trans World Airlines 1961 and in 1966 became a full time Airline Transport Pilot until his retirement in January 1993. Concurrently, Michael owned his PT22 single engine aircraft business at Santa Paula, CA Michael D. Sullivan, married in California, Sharla Foreman of Seattle, WA, had two daughters Kimberly in 1963 and Jolee in 1965. Michael was proud of his membership in the Ryan Aviation Club, and served on the Board of Directors of Santa Paula Airport, Santa Paula, CA. Michael is survived by his daughters Kim and Jolee, three grandchildren: Alexandria, and Sarah of Three Rivers, CA, True Patterson of Newport Beach, CA, his Mother Ruth Lewis and his brother John P Sullivan of Redondo Beach, CA, a niece Simone D Sullivan of Louisville, a nephew Patrick J. Sullivan of Louisville, KY. The family requests in lieu of flowers that cash donations be made in his name to the Aviation Museum of Santa Paula at P. O. Box 908, Santa Paula, CA 93061, and to Paralyzed Veterans of America, Wilton, NH 03086.
