JAMES J. SWEENEY DEAD Mrs. J.J. SWEENEY, of Owensboro, Ky (Daviess County), died at her home last Thursday night, December 31, 1903. She had been an invalid for the past ten years. Mrs. SWEENEY was previous to her marriage, Miss Nettie SINGLETON, a daughter of Dr. William SINGLETON, a prominent physician of Breckinridge County. She was born July 28, 1857 in Breckinridge County. Years ago the family moved to Owensboro, Ky. On October 3, 1876 she was married to James J. SWEENEY, a member of the law firm of SWEENEY, ELLIS & SWEENEY. Four grown children and her husband survive. Submitted by: Peggy Russell meemawpeg7@gmail.com Additional Comments: I found two tombstones for the SWEENEY surname in the Breckinridge County Cemetery Book, volume 1, published in 1991: St. Romuald Catholic Church Cemetery, located on Highway 259. The cemetery lies between the Parish Church and the northern city limits of Hardinsburg, Ky in central Breckinridge County. SWEENEY, T. J. died in 1897 at age 39 SWEENEY, Bridget 1834 -- 1875 wife of Thomas These two are the only SWEENEY's listed in volume 1 cemetery book. I have no idea how they are related to Nettie SINGLETON SWEENEY'S HUSBAND, if in fact they are related. There are also 10 SINGLETON Tombstones, but none look to be born in the time period to be children of Dr. William SINGLETON.
