Rev. John Thomas Tabler, father of Dr. M. Tabler, was called to his 
rest on Sabbath morning, December 15, 1895, at the home of his son, 
Dr. J. N. Tabler, at Royse City, Texas. He was in his eighty-fifth 
year and spent sixty years of his life in the active ministry of the 
gospel - giving up his last pastorate at Fayetteville, Va., just 
four years ago. His beautiful life and Christian character will ever 
remain in rich legacy to his children. He was greatly beloved in all 
of his fields of labor. He served the Baptist church at Taylorsville,
