Herald 1992 MRS TACKETT Carrie Tackett, 73, of Garrison, died Thursday, April 30, 1992 at home. Born September 1, 1918 in Weeksberry, KY, a daughter of the late George Frank and Eliza Jane Tackett Johnson, she was a housewife and member of Old Regular Baptist Church of Melvin. Preceded in death by her husband Glen Tackett, on January 20, 1969, she is survived by five sons, Edward Tackett, Ben Tackett, and Carlos Tackett, all of Garrison and Homer Tackett and Glen Junior Tackett, both of Portsmouth; seven daughters, Thelma Jones and Emma Younce, both of Melvin, Betty Bloomfield of Bucyrus, and Ester Skidmore, Nellie Thurman, and Eliza Jane Ferguson, all of Garrison; two brothers, John Morgan Johnson of Garrison and Frank Johnson of Black Oak; eight sisters, Laura Hall and Mollie Cooper, both of Garrison, Dorothy Caudill of Willard, Ohio, Effie Tackett of Weeksberry, KY., Oma Hall of Melvin, Lettie McCoy of Virgie,KY. Josie Hall of Detroit and Irene Corns of Garrison; 51 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one brother, James Johnson; and two sisters, Lulla Johnson and Rose Bryant. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 10, 1992 at the Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Elder Arnold Tackett and Elder Ellis Holbrook officiating and interment in Skidmore Cemetery.
