Submitted by Sandi Gorin NOTE: I have no connection, no further information and am not seeking additional information. "MAJOR JOSEPH TERRY, one of the oldest citizens of Cumberland, died at his home in that county last week at the advanced age of eighty-six years and six months. He had some of the best blue blood of Virginia in his veins, and was the father of two very distinguished men. One of them was a lawyer of prominence and Judge of the Supreme Court of California, and one of the principles in the celebrated Broderick-Terry duel, in which United States Senator Broderick lost his life. The other was the well known Col. Terry of the Texas Rangers during the last unpleasantness between the North and South, a noble and gallant soldier." Glasgow (KY) Weekly Times, 22 Nov 1877.
