From: KyArchives [archives@genrecords.org] Sent: Sunday, December 03, 2006 5:35 PM To: Ky-Footsteps Subject: Thurman.William.1825.Mercer.COURT William Thurman September 5, 1825 Mercer County KyArchives Court Source: Mercer County Will Book 9 Written: September 5, 1825 Recorded: March 4, 1830 Mercer County Kentucky Will Book #9 page 289 Land Division of Wm Thurman dec’d. estate In obedience to an order of the worshipful county court of Mercer, we have allotted to Martha Thurman widowed relict of Wm Thurman dec’d. her dower in her said husband’s lands as follows: To wit, beginning at a beech and dogwood at letter C in there at Pendergrass’ line thence with his line south 190 poles to a beech and two black locusts at D a corner to said Pendergrass thence 132 poles to a stake at b in John Christerson’s line thence with his line north 63 poles two beeches at E a corner to said Christerson thence west 45 poles to a hickory at figure 1 thence north 125 poles to a hickory black and 8 dogwoods at 2 thence west 87 poles to the beginning containing 121 acres it being an equal third part of a tract of 365 acres of which the said Wm Thurman dec’d seized and possessed lying in the knolls in the County aforesaid and on the water of White Oak Creek. Be it further in obedience to said order which directs us to divide the balance of said tract of lands among his children ____ have preceded to the performance of that duty as follows. To wit: To Martha Thurman we have allotted by lot No. 1 beginning at a hickory a corner to the widows dower at figure 1 thence with the dower line north 125 poles to a hickory black oak and dogwoods a corner to said dower at figure 2 thence south 51 poles to a Locust and two small black oaks a corner to Lot No 2 at figure 5 thence south 125 poles to a small black oak a corner to the said at figure 4 thence west 51 poles to the beginning containing 40 acres. To Elizabeth Thurman we have allotted Lott No 2 beginning at a beech and two small black oaks at figure 3 a corner to lot no 1 thence south 125 poles to a small black oak at figure 4 a corner to the same. Thence south 47 poles to four small hickories at figure 5 a corner to Lott No 3 thence north 146 poles to a white oak a corner to the same at figure 6 thence south 60 degrees west 45 poles to white oak and two dogwoods at letter B thence west 10 poles to the beginning containing 40 acres. To George D. Bibb and Malinda his wife (late Malinda Thurman) we have allotted Lot no 3 beginning at four small hickories a corner to Lott no 2 at figure 5 thence north 146 poles to a white oak a corner to said lot at figure 6. thence no 6 E 51 poles to a beech and chestnut a corner to lot no 4 at figure 7 thence south 174 poles to a dogwood and stake corner to the same at figure 8 thence west 45 poles to the beginning containing 45 acres. To John D. Thurman we have allotted Lot No. 4 beginning at a beech and chestnut and corner to lot No 3 at figure 7 thence south 174 poles to a dogwood and stake corner to the same at figure 8 thence east 118 poles to a chestnut and corner to lot no 6 at figure 9 thence north 200 poles to a sugar tree corner to the same at figure 10 thence south 50 degrees west 55 to the beginning containing 56 acres. To Thomas Thurman we have allotted lot no 5 beginning at a chestnut and corner to lot no 4 at figure 9 thence north 200 poles to a sugar tree corner to the same at figure 10 thence west 60 degrees east 53 poles to a white oak, red oak, chestnut and poplar the original beginning corner of this survey at letter A. Thence south 226 poles to a chestnut at letter C a corner to John Christerson thence west 46 poles to the beginning containing 62 acres. All of which several allotments to the said children we conceive to be equal in value each to each other. Which we respectfully report to the court.
