Will Bk A P. 114 Written: October 9, 1797 Recorded: January 2, 1798 In the name of god Amen this 9th day of October in the year of our lord 1797 I Samuel VAUGHAN being very Sick and weak in body but in perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto god for his mercy and knowing that it appointed once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say Principally first of all I give and recommend my Soul unto the hands of the almighty god that gave it and my body I Recommend to the Earth to be buried in a Christian burial at the Descretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general resurection I shall receive the same by the mighty Power of god and touchin Such as wordly Estate wherewith it hath pleased god to bless me with in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form I give and bequeath to Prudence my dearly beloved Wife all my Estate together with all my household goods debts and moveable effects only figure I desire to be sold and if she marries I lend a Negro named JINNE / JENNE / JUNE and a Negro named LEWIS, a horse and a Saddle and two Cows and a feather bed. Item: I give to my beloved son Claburn Eighteen pounds in Property Item: I give to my beloved son Luke Eighteen pounds in property Item: I give to my beloved daughter Dise eighteen pounds in property Item: I give to my beloved son John the polmare colt and Saddle, a Cow and Calf and a two year old heifer and Eighteen pounds Property Item: I give to my beloved son Joel a horse at fifteen Pounds price and a saddle, a Cow and a Calf and a two year old heffer and eighteen pounds in Property. Item: I give to my dearly beloved son Samuel a horse at fifteen pounds price in trade and Saddle a Cow and Calf a two year old heffer and eighteen pounds in trade or property. Item: I give to my dearly beloved Son Chisly/Chesly a horse at fifteen pounds in trade and Saddle a Cow and Calf a two year old heffer and eighteen pounds in trade. Item: I give to dearly beloved Son Peter a horse at fifteen pounds price and Saddle a Cow and Calf and a two year old heffer and eighteen pounds in trade. Item: I give to beloved daughter Sally a feather bed and furniture a Cow and Calf and a two year old heffer and eighteen pounds in trade. Item: I give to beloved daughter Betsy a feather bed and furniture a Cow and Calf and a two year old heffer and eighteen pounds in trade – Figures to be sold and a twelve months Credit given and at the decention of my Wife the Balance of my Estate to be divided amongst all my children equally that is naming them Patty and William and Polly and Clburn and Luke and Dise and John and Joel and Samuel and Chesly and Peter and Sally and Betsy whom I likewise Constitute make and ordain my sole Executrix of this my last will and testament that is to say my beloved wife my son William my son Luke all and Singular my lands measures and tenements those freely to be prossesed and enjoied and I do hereby utterly disalow revoke and disannul all and every other former testaments wills legasees and bequest and executors by me in any way named willed and bequeathed ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. HURST Henry HURST STARKY HAYES At a County Court held for Washington County the 2nd day of January 1798 This will was proved by the oaths of John HURST and Starky HAYS two of the subscribing Witnesses thereto and ordered to be Recorded and on the motion of Prudence VAUGHAN, William VAUGHAN and Luke VAUGHAN Executors and Executors wherein named who made oaths and executed and acknowledged bond as the law directs a Certificate is granted them for obtaining a Probate hereof in due form.
