From: KyArchives [Archives@genrecords.org] Sent: Friday, February 10, 2006 1:18 PM To: Ky-Footsteps Subject: Vaughn.William-Vaughn.Jacob.1849.Bullitt-Jefferson.DEED William Vaughn - Jacob Vaughn June 1, 1849 Bullitt-Jefferson County KyArchives Deed Written: June 1, 1849 Recorded: September 22, 1849 VAUGHN to VAUGHN Deed Bullitt Cty., KY Deed Book L, Page 448 This Indenture made between Jacob VAUGHN and Malinda his wife of the City of Louisville in the state of Kentucky of the first part, and William VAUGHN of the county of Bullitt of the second part, Witnesseth: That the first parties in consideration of the sum of Three hundred dollars in Cash and three promisary notes of the second part of this date for three hundred dollars each payable successively in one two and three years, and to secure the payment whereof a lien is retained on the property hereby Conveyed, have bargained and Sold, and by these presents do grant bargain and Sell release and Convey unto the said second party all the right __ interest and estate of the said Jacob of in and to the tract of land lying on Knob Creek in the said County containing Six hundred and thirty six acres more or less which was conveyed to Joel VAUGHN their father by Alonzo C KINNISON and others by deed dated Oct. 15, 1833 and duly recorded in said County in deed book H, page 146. Said tract of 636 acres was devised to said Jacob and others and has been divided between them. and the object of this deed is to Convey the share of the said Jacob in said tract (the metes and bounds of which cannot now be given) with all the appurtenances unto the said William VAUGHN. To Have and To Hold all the right _ interest and estate of the _ Jacob of in and to the said tract so Conveyed as aforesaid to Joel VAUGHN and which he devised to four of his children lying in Knob Creek aforesaid with all the appurtenances unto the said William VAUGHN and to his heirs and assigns and the said Jacob VAUGHN doth covenant and agree that he hath not incumbered the same and that he will forever warrant and defend the same unto the said Wm VAUGHN and to his heirs and assigns against all persons claiming by through or under the said Jacob, but against no others. In Testimony where of the said first parties have hereunto set their hands and Seals this first day of June 1849. It is understood that out of said tract of 636 acres more or less the said Joel VAUGHN in his lifetime conveyed two small portions and the residue was owned by him to four of his children and the _ome portions of the same was devised to said Jacob which home portion and all that part of the tract which was allotted to said Jacob upon a division it is the object of this deed to Convey to the second party His State of Kentucky Jacob x Vaughn Seal Jefferson County Sct Mark Her Malinda x Vaughn Seal Mark I Cunan Pope clerk of the County Court for this County aforesaid do Certify that on this day the foregoing deed was produced to me in my office and acknowledged and delivered by Jacob Vaughn and Malinda his wife parties thereto to be their act and deed, that I examined her privately and apart form her husband and having shown and explained said deed to her she declared that she has signed sealed acknowleged and delivered it freely and willingly without the problems threats or compulsions of her said husband that the She was willing it should be recorded and did not wish to retract her word acknowledgement which is Certified for record.
